United States – Democratic candidate Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris on Sunday dismissed former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ assertion that the presidential candidate is not humble because she has no children.

He accused Harris of being unfit for the job because she had an outdated view of what a family should look like, and she boasted about being part of a modern family, which includes her husband, Doug Emhoff, and his two children from the previous marriage, Cole and Ella, as reported by Reuters.

Harris Rebukes Sanders’ Comments on Humility

In the Donald Trump town hall in September in Michigan, which Sanders hosted, she said her children bring her humility and then quipped that Harris has nothing that can humble her.

Harris fired back at Sanders’ comments on the podcast “Call Her Daddy” on Sunday, declaring “I don’t think she knows that there are a whole bunch of women out there who, uh, are not hoping for modesty. Two, a whole lot of women out there who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life, and children in their life.”

“And I think it’s really important for women to lift each other up,” Harris added.

Harris said family comes in many forms.

The Meaning of Family

“We have our family by blood, and then we have our family by love, and I have both, and I consider it a real blessing,” she said. “And I have two beautiful children, Cole and Ella, who call me Momala. We have a very modern family. My husband’s ex-wife is a friend of mine.”

Criticism of JD Vance and Defending Women’s Choices

The vice president also addressed Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who has previously complained that he did not wish the country to be run by “childless cat ladies.”

‘I just think it’s mean and mean-spirited,’ Harris said.

Sanders’s office and the Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Harris appeared on the podcast with Alex Cooper, chatting about reproductive issues, sexual assault, and student loans.

Harris’ Media Blitz Before the Election

The appearance was part of an even larger media tour by Harris as she campaigns to increase her voter numbers in the last month before the November 5 election with Trump, as reported by Reuters.

The vice president’s campaign, which has been accused of micromanaging Harris’s media availability up until this point, said she will sit for an interview this week with CBS “60 Minutes,” ABC “The View,” CBS “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” and Sirius-XM’s “The Howard Stern Show.”
